We took the bus about an hour and a half out of Mexico City to tour the amazing area of Cuernavaca. Our guide, Charlie, could fill up volumes of history and trivia about this place, and we learned tons!
I was ecstatic to see that we were staying at a hotel with an outdoor pool! You know I spent a few hours out there recovering on Saturday after an intense week of touring! My Mexico tan is coming along...
Not only do can you get a ticket around here, but the policemen will confiscate your license plate right off your car too, as we saw here right before the lady came walking back to her car! Watch out!
The official, symbolic tree of Cuernavaca.
Walking the streets with our group- so much to see!
Charlie gave us a great lecture on these historical murals by the famous artist, Diego Rivera.
Meeting amigos...
Cathedral in Cuernavaca made famous by Obispo Arceo who reformed the cathedral and several practices of his Catholic congregation. Statue of John the Baptist near baptismal font.
Intriguing wall architecture by John Spencer done around an old church. (Plus cute kids playing soccer by the cemetery.)
Piling in the van together!
Chelsi and I were exhausted!! What a day!
After attending Sacrament meeting at the LDS ward in Cuernavaca, we attended mass at the cathedral where a mariachi band plays as part of the program!
