We made it to Mexico City!!
Day 1:
Dad dropped me off at the St. George airport and I met up with some of my group friends and Dr. Turley for my connecting flight from Salt Lake City to Mexico City!! We were flipping out that the day had finally come to go! We started meeting together for our internship prep class at BYU once a week for the last half of fall semester, so the excitement has been building up and we already get along really well as a group!
I was a little nervous about landing in Mexico City after hearing some scary things about it, but everything went well and we all ended up at the hotel together that night! One student in my group has family who lives in Mexico City, and his cute grandma did a spectacular job of packing 9 people, plus all of our luggage, into their mini van and drove us to our hotel!!
Our hotel, el Zócalo Central, is right in the middle of the city next to a massive cathedral, and it is pretty amazing!! I just love the atmosphere here and experiencing the culture of another country, especially now that I can speak Spanish!
On the first night I got the one thing I've been waiting for... REAL TACOS MEXICANOS! And they weren't disappointing! :) I also went into the gym that night to work some off some of that and my airplane snacks...
